How many wonders of the world have you experienced? Well, I had my first wonder and that is the Maasai Mara!

If you follow my blog, you will know I am not a morning person until the morning of travel and this one was no different. We were headed to the Maasai Mara and I was excited. This time around, I was on a group tour and was looking forward to what the next few days would bring.

I was awake at 4:00 am, and the departure time was 5.30 am. Having packed very light clothes, I opted to carry a hoodie and soon we were off. Nothing prepared me for the beautiful Nairobi Sunrise. In the comfortable Landcruiser, I was in, I was able to take a short nap or maybe it was longer than short. I suggest carrying your neck pillow. That nap can be a real snooze.

The very kind tour guide opted for a brief stop at the viewpoint for a brief bathroom break and take in the view of the Rift Valley escarpment. The way that sun just shines upon the escarpment is beautiful. The beautiful Mt Longonot is one of my favourite mountains. I like how it just comes out and shows off its beauty as it enjoys the sun.

We were off to the Mara now and you could feel the fresh air and the slowing down as we drove away from the city. After about two hours we made another brief stop in Narok. It is now hot and the light clothes looked like a good idea. Our stopover was in the town. I had a takeaway coffee from Artcafee and a pastry to go with it.

Back on the road, I took another nap and shortly after we arrived at the Maasai Mara Sekenani gate. Fun Fact, In 2020, the Government of Kenya banned single-use plastic in protected natural areas. These protected areas include all of Kenya’s beaches, forests, national reserves and other places… including the Maasai Mara National Reserve where Emboo River is located.

After the security check at the gate, we took a game drive en route to the serene Mara Maisha Camp a luxury tented camp. We could watch a hyena hunt, an Elephantidae crossing the road and even lions – just chilling. My favourite moment was when my favourite animal in the planet – The Lioness! decided to pass by our cruiser.

If I were to describe Maisha Mara Camp in one word, it would be SERENITY. After a warm reception, we headed to lunch. I found another chef after my own heart. The food was delicious. The dessert table looked like my birthday, Mother’s Day and every other day you can think of that needs cake!

After this, I was escorted to my room where I was to spend the next couple of days. I loved the camp as it had a rustic look and feel. Very nice and serene. The clouds at this point were gathering and it became dark. It rained for about an hour and as it did, I sat at the patio and enjoyed the view of the Maasai Mara. After which the sun cracked through the grey skies and as the sun set. I am more convinced that God is an artist! I can’t explain in words what I saw, you just have to plan a trip to the Maasai Mara with Outdoor Episodes to experience it.

During my stay during the 2 nights in Maasai Mara, my itinerary included Game drives, Baloon Safari and lots of rnr time as I needed time with my thoughts. My travel consultant understood the assignment and planned a flawless trip for me.

My Trip to the Maasai Mara was a success and my stay at Maisha Mara Luxury Tented Camp was a Serene one. Would I go back? Yes in a heartbeat.

I have shared a highlight on the Outdoor Episode Social Media Pages. Head on there and check out the images of the room. sunsets, sunrises and more!

On to the next Outdoor Episode!
